Meet Shannon and Andrew

At age 17, and seconds into my ten year treeplanting career, I found myself holding a spruce seedling, no longer than the length of my outstretched hand, no stronger than a twig. Scanning upward, ancient spruce trees towered overhead, grand, wise, sturdy, and beautiful. Small beginnings, I thought to myself, as I planted my first seedling, and with it a knowingness that giant leaps look back on tiny steps. My love for nature began in the rugged mountains of Terrace, BC and wild expanse of the Cariboo-Chilcotin, only to be cemented through years of communing with trees, building forests. Later, Spring spruce tips would come be the first plant I ever foraged, my favourite way to top dishes with a citrusy zest.

A dozen years from now and many years later, Andrew and I packed up our passion for mountains, river valleys, and lush forests and moved to Revelstoke, a stunningly beautiful, year-round mountain mecca. A decade later, we found ourselves standing knee deep in a large green garbage bin, lobbing bricks one-by-one into our truck bed. Taken off the old Telus building, they were originally made at a factory in Farwell before the dam was put in, when the lake was a river and Revelstoke’s settlement was square in the middle of the lush Columbia valley. You can see silver flecks of mica in the brick wall today, the same flecks you’ll see making the white sandy beaches glimmer, the rocks sparkle, and the hiking just a little extra special. Those bricks were the first piece of material we gathered in the creation of The Spruce Lodge, the first piece of history, and perhaps the first story you’re reading about your next retreat.

These days, when I’m not working at Spruce Tip Nutrition, consulting with clients, or ensuring an extra-ordinary experience at Spruce Tip Lodge, you might find me playing in the mountains - hiking with our puppy, snowboarding, or mountain biking. Admittedly, you’re just as likely to find me studying, reading, yoga-ing, or creating in the kitchen.

Passion for mountains, river valleys, and lush forests

When Andrew’s not busy running Axiom Mechanical, he’s most certainly in the mountains - touring, sledding, or biking, loving the up as much as the down, and finding peace in the serenity nature brings.

We look forward to providing a soft, luxurious landing for your rugged adventures.

Most of all, we can’t wait to hear you’ve made enduring memories at Revelstoke Spruce Tip Lodge, and left feeling better than you came.

Warmly,

Shannon, Andrew, and Nina
